There is no tuition to attend Spokane International Academy. We are an open enrollment, charter public school funded in a similar way to a neighborhood school. We actively seek private support of our efforts through fundraising and in-kind donations, but there is no financial commitment necessary on behalf of families, outside of a traditional school, to access our program.
However, families will be asked to provide basic supplies for their students throughout the year in a similar way compared with other public school programs. Yes, but limited. Spokane International Academy has a limited transportation plan that accommodates families we serve to the best of our abilities with the state transportation budget we receive. Our student enrollment spans a large section of the Spokane region ranging from as far north as Loon Lake and as far south as Cheney.
We encourage parents to connect with our families that live near them to establish ride-sharing opportunities and are working to find a program that will assist families in doing this. Yes, by law, Spokane International Academy participates in the annual Smarter Balanced Assessments that all other schools in Washington take. Spokane International Academy believes in the importance of cultivating students' interests beyond academic schoolwork.
We will offer activities based on the interests of our enrolled students, the facilities available to us, and the ability of our staff or community volunteers to coordinate them. Like other schools in our area, SIA focuses on the core content areas of language arts, math, social studies, and science.
