It moved me deeply and made me feel so many things. I highly recommend it, but it is not a light read. Therefore, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. Treating this time as historic requires as much research as any other historical fiction, though primary sources are more readily available. For example, the characters live in houses built in the s as tract homes. The cover artist used one of these on the cover to great effect.
