The bell tower was destroyed in after a fire. In the Middle Ages, the Illy parish had as its patron the Abbot of Mouzon who also received the tithes jointly with the priest. The Saint-Pierre church is located in the centre of the village. It has an elongated plan. The three-aisled nave with four bays is preceded by a western massif composed of an entrance vestibule framed by the spiral staircase in the work to the north and the font chapel to the south. The rectangular choir with a flat chevet is framed by the sacristy to the south and a parish hall to the north.
The building is built of limestone rubble with a chain of Dom-le-Mesnil stone. The interior faces of the walls are rendered. The floor of the nave is covered with limestone slabs and the choir with polychrome cement tiles. The nave has two levels: low semicircular arcades supported by columns with capitals and the upper level is pierced with polylobed oculi; The side aisles are lit by lancet windows, the drip walls of the choir by oculi and the chevet by a triplet.
The central nave is vaulted with semi-circular barrel vaults with penetration and the side aisles are vaulted with groin vaults. All the roofs of the building are in slate.
