Designed by architect Arseniusz Romanowicz, its construction began in and was completed in The station, located on the Warsaw Cross-City Line, features four underground island platforms with eight tracks in total and is served by the long-distance domestic and international trains. The station was one of the most promiment postwar modernism contstruction in Warsaw of its time and thanks to its functional and easthetic features it was considered as one of the most modern and railway stations in Europe.
Central Railway Station constitutes the core part of the cross-city train line designed by a single group of two architects Arseniusz Romanowicz and Piotr Szymaniak. Together with 4 other stations Ochota, Powisle, Srodmiescie and Stadium Central Railway Station creates a unique architectural development, that recently carefully renovated is still in use and perfectly serves its function.
