We have more newsletters. Stockport-born Eddie Shepherd will be appearing on the show next week alongside three other chefs from the region. Eddie is known for his acclaimed restaurant The Walled Garden, an exclusive dining concept which sees the top chef serve food to diners in his own home in Whalley Range.
Serving up incredible vegan and vegetarian food, the intimate restaurant space seats just eight diners at a time, and is so popular that it's booked out months in advance. Confirming the news last night, the chef took to social media to share the news, and asked his followers to 'wish me luck'.
It will be his first time on the show, but follows a string of awards for his restaurant over the last few years and rave reviews. The show sees chefs from eight different regions design a four-course menu, plus snacks and pre-dessert, with the aim of winning the regional round.
With over 20 years of experience as a professional chef, Eddie has taken his unique, creative cooking around the world. While his journey started in Marple - where he went to school with fellow Stopfordian and acclaimed chef Samuel Buckley - his flair for experimental plant-based cooking has led him to stop off and cook in many countries including Mexico, Greece and China. At his restaurant, The Walled Gardens, he serves eight diners a night a menu of ground-breaking, plant-based cuisine.
His dishes take influence from food science to work creatively with fresh and wild ingredients. Many of his dishes - like the scotch bonnet and fermented passionfruit - use methods like distillation to extract the intense aromas and flavours from plants, herbs and vegetables.
