Hello, my name is Melody LaRochelle. I am a licensed massage therapist, military veteran, musician, and owner of Songful Somatics Massage Therapy. I am originally from New Jersey, but have lived all over the continental United States and have happily called Atlanta, Georgia my home for the longest. I originally found a passion for holistic and complementary healthcare as a child; my mother suffered from chronic migraines, and my grandmother, from chronic hip and back pain due to having the polio virus as a child.
Seeing the relief they found in chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage modalities fascinated me, and I started experimenting with aromatherapy and reflexology on family and friends. After all, who doesn't like a good foot rub? Through grade school and beyond, my friends came to know me as their confidant; one they could go to for relief from both anxiety and physical discomfort. This is something I continue to take great pride in.
I recognized early on that there is often a distinct correlation between the life events we experience and physiological dysfunction. I have long been fascinated with trauma-informed tools, language, and techniques, many of which have been instrumental in my own healing journey. I have since dedicated myself to helping my clients heal from long-buried emotional pain that has manifested into physical pain or dysfunction. I graduated with Honors and a 4. I had worked with chiropractic offices, spas, and stretch studios before deciding to start my own practice: Songful Somatics Massage Therapy.
My core values in my practice and in life are integrity, empathy, and passion. I'm so blessed to love my work and be able to help others, and I am reminded of it every day. In addition to my massage therapy practice, I enjoy singing and playing the ukulele, spontaneous road trips, midnight breakfast food, collecting vinyl albums, playing obscure board games, decorating way too early for Halloween is that actually possible?
