It was a great surprise for them and they were very excited to show them off. Thank you so much! Some of the HUSA children have hopes of attending programs here. They offer several courses which take a maximum of 2 years, have boarding, and a ton of hands on experience not above — one of their class rooms for heavy duty machine mechanics! Schools in Kimamba lack serious resources — human and material. The Kimamba Secondary school is most commonly where students are directed when they pass their grade seven exams. All courses are supposed to be taught solely in English when in High School, however whenever I visit the Kimamba Secondary the teachers, including the principal, refuse to speak English with me.
When I made an unannounced visit, all 29 teachers were present on campus, and in class rooms teaching in English! There is a computer lab being built, text books available for students use and enough desks for all!
Her mom died in child birth and her only living family member is her elderly grandmother. Leya went to stay at a mission orphanage who support infants such as Leya, and when she was 5 she was able to return to Kimamba to stay with her grandmother.
