The Copenhagen Police District is Denmark's largest with more than , inhabitants. Each also has a number of local and community police stations providing citizens with local services in the different neighbourhoods.
Today, local police efforts are primarily embedded in the "Your Officer" Din betjent programme, which divides the Copenhagen Police District into a number of sectors with which local police officers are affiliated.
The Copenhagen Police District has around 2, staff members, about of whom work for the prosecution service. The prosecution service conducts criminal proceedings before the Copenhagen City Court and the Court of Frederiksberg. The prosecution service is organised in seven prosecution divisions, one administrative department, and a section for quality assurance and knowledge.
This is also where cases concerned with contravention of the Aliens Act are handled, as well as cases concerning persons who have been provisionally charged or detained for document forgery or identity fraud at Copenhagen Airport. Prosecution Division City Prosecution Division City provides support for and deals with cases involving persons who have been provisionally charged or are detainees in local investigations carried out at Station City.
Prosecution Division Task Force East Prosecution Division Task Force East provides assistance and deals with cases from Task Force East, which is responsible for investigating crimes committed by outlaw motorcycle gangs and street gangs. Prosecution Division for Non-Criminal Law Offences The Prosecution Division for Non-Criminal Law Offences processes the majority of the district's criminal cases concerning contravention of non-criminal law, including contraventions of environmental legislation, health and safety legislation, the Customs Act as well as legislation on vehicle registration tax, copyrights, etc.
