Lockdown has been hard in terms of not being able to see my friends and initially I was disappointed that exams were cancelled as everything was all so vague. However I do enjoy lessons at home as they're far more relaxing. This Lockdown has been easier as I am allowed too see my girlfriend. During the first lockdown I was not able to see Ellie at all for 11 weeks.
I've found it hard not seeing my friends and not being able to do practically anything. I haven't really left the house for most of lockdown, except for dog walks with my friends every so often. If I hadn't done that I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have left my bed for three months. COVIDs been hard. Over the last year, I've lost two grandparents.
When the last lockdown started, I still thought I would enjoy spending time alone. I havent had the chance to find out though; my family are always around. The first lockdown was really tough, I decided to watch a film everyday, I watched ! In this Lockdown I've been in school my mum is a key worker which has been amazing for me as it has allowed me some space and I've become more productive.
Lockdown has meant a big change in routine for Shabbir, who is autistic and non-verbal. Not being able to participate in usual activities or visit usual places has meant having to adapt to new routines which could be hard at times. Lockdown enabled me to take a step back and realise who my true friends are. Despite the lethargic days, I am grateful for the valuable lessons I have learnt however, I am more than ready for things to return back normal.
There have been times of friction between us but also times when we have connected and tried to support each other through these tough times. There has been a bit of laughter but mainly it's been quite hard. In Lockdown it feels like we're detached from the real world, especially as I can't see my friends, who are the biggest part of my normal life. I'm always thinking how much I'd have enjoyed this time to myself in year 8 when all I did was watch Netflix.
