Not only monuments, which for centuries have marked the city with symbols and icons looking towards eternity. But in recent decades, it is just that the dematerialization of art, the recognition of its relational and social value, have gradually more and more emphasized its aspect of agent reactions.
A public art work is not just an object of aesthetic value, an element that is inserted between the architecture of the city and highlights some aspects of the landscape of the city, but a reagent which shows the complexity of urban relationships and, at times, also produces new ones.
Experts, artists, architects, administrative officials, and representatives of Ngo will meet for a few days to discuss, showing and sharing their own experiences and opinions. Amongst others, there will be the exemplified, the most important international experience of the City of New York giving thanks to Tom Finkelpearl and Charlotte Cohen. A particular section of the seminar will be dedicated to the project Skyspace by James Turrell, that could enrich the park of the Ujazdowski Castle.
He is former Director of the Clocktower Gallery at the P. Tom Finkelpearl is a widely recognized specialist on public art. He is author of the book, "Dialogues in Public Art" and many essays and articles regarding art in the public sphere. He also wokred as an ilustrator with magazines "Fantastyka", "Fluid" and "Playboy Polska". He is the editor of the architectonical part of the trylogy "W jak Warszawa" together with Sebastian Cichocki and Krzysztof Nawratek , and co-author of the books: "Wyspa" and "Redukcja" Also, he is the Co-curator of the Synchronicity Festival.
