Mwamba about the possibility of him joining the party but if he wishes to join he is welcome. Lifwekelo says it is saddening to see how the PF is mistreating the Kasama Law Maker forgetting that resigning is not a crime to be treated the way he is being treated. Mwamba is being treated which should open the minds of the people that there is something the PF wants from Mr. Lifwekelo however states that Mr. Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, ZCTU Secretary General, Roy Mwaba, says the dismissal of these workers is a serious error on the part of government especially that nurses and paramedics were trained at a huge government cost.
Mwaba says the few nurses remaining in hospitals, more especially UTH are clearly overworked and this has put a lot of pressure on them and doctors. He wonders how it was possible for President Michael Sata to pardon the prisoners using his discretion and yet find it difficult to pardon innocent nurses.
Mwaba adds that it is hard to believe that a government which is preaching the improvement of the social and economic status of the people can fire so many people at once and condemn all the people to poverty and yet claim to be creating employment for people. He states that it is not too late for the Head of State to pardon the nurses and show that he is a father of the nation by listening to the plea of the people. And Mr. Mwaba says the ZCTU is concerned with the pace at which the constitution making process is moving.
He says there is need for the PF government to give the people of Zambia a clear road-map of how they are going to deliver a people driven constitution. Mwaba has also expressed concern at the increasing tension between the opposition political parties and the ruling PF. He has since called on the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue to play its role by defusing the tension. Ms Masebo said government is concerned with the springing up of unregulated casinos and other gambling outlets in the country especially in Lusaka and along the line of rail.
Speaking at a consultative meeting with casino operators and stakeholders in Lusaka today, Ms Masebo said government intends to regulate the industry in order to align it to international best practices. Ms Masebo said the absence of legislation in the casino industry has resulted in government losing colossal sums of money through non-payment of taxes.
