GICID Wydanie Ubezpieczenia Społeczne ; 1 Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the impact of the excess deaths observed during the COVID pandemic in on the finances of the pension fund of the Polish Social Insurance Fund. Materials and methods: Using time series analysis methods, the size of excess deaths by sex and age in Poland in was calculated.
Then, using the methods of potential demography, the number of potential years of life lost PYLL was estimated, taking into account the periods before and after reaching retirement age.
These data allowed one to determine the impact of increased mortality during the COVID epidemic in Poland in on the finances of the Pension Fund. Premature deaths will translate into the finances of the Social Insurance Fund in the future.
